For those with a sweet tooth, we bring to you the seriously good ‘Blondie’. Its a Brownie really but is made with vanilla and white chocolate so has a very different taste and colour. We dressed ours with melted white chocolate and fresh rasberries and strawberries.
Even the not so sweet toothers came out of the wood work for a taste of these, especially after an opening speech from our very own blondie, Wilfred. Cheers Wilf….

Following our love of Mexican cuisine we have made and bottled this smoky chipotle sauce. The intense sweet smoky flavour of the chipotle chillies (grown and smoked in Mexico) is really something else and can be used in a vast array of dishes. We love them with our scrambled eggs or in our sandwiches, stirred through soups and stews, added to mayonnaise or creme fraiche as a dip or simply used as an alternative chutney.
Available to buy soon at The Beacon (hand drawn label included)

We welcomed the warm weather by eating (and drinking) outside whenever possible. We’d like to offer more of this to our customers so here’s hoping it stays for a while…
New to the menu was a red quinoa salad (red quinoa cooked in Bouillon and mixed with seasonal vegetables) served with steamed brocolli and fresh pesto
Or what about some home made fresh pasta stuffed with squash and sage served with mixed roasted peppers and parmesan, not to mention the cold and crisp white wine on side. Delicious…

We were kindly given some fresh fish caught that morning from the Hastings waves. We were quick to get on it and create our own fish n chip supper with crushed peas, hand cut chips and home made aioli. Look out for future fish suppers with us

Here in the house, we’ve been scrawling away to design a (new) logo…
With the input of resident illustrators Dora Dewsbery and Sarah Demoratti I think we’ve got it….

Last Sunday we opened our doors for the first time this year to serve brunch. On the menu were fried eggs on toast served with our own baked beans and free range bacon as well as our specials dish of seasonal asparagus wrapped in pancetta (also available without) laid on toasted muffins and topped with poached eggs and home made hollandaise, superb!
For those that weren’t quite so hungry there was home made jam or marmalade to spread over buckwheat and sunflower toast and for a sweet tooth the cake of the day – ‘Blondie’ (white chocolate brownie)
At the bar we were pouring freshly made raspberry smoothies, juices and plenty of teas and coffee, whilst listening to Billie Holiday on the old decks.
Thanks to those who came
