Locally sourced chicken roasted with garlic & white wine, served with bacon & a local chestnut stuffing

Squash, winter herb & crispy butterbean pie – garlic roast squash in a creme fraiche, Lancashire cheese & herb sauce topped with crispy beans in a cheese pastry (v)

Vegan Nut Roast- our renowned recipe of mixed nuts, fresh herbs and plenty of vegetables for a plant based roast

As always, our roasts come with roasties, a selection of seasonal vegetables & a home brewed gravy…

Also! We now offer an autumnal cheese board (£10); mature cheddar and English blue with grapes, quince jelly/fig relish, a selection of crackers and freshly cracked nuts, perfect to finish a meal in this season!

A little note about our pre-order system; We buy our meat each week from Netherfield, just near Battle, we visit the farm ourselves and take great care in selecting what’s right for our roasts. It can be tricky to know week by week how much to buy so sometimes calling to book on the day may mean we have already sold out of meat. We will always do our best to ensure we can feed as many of you as we can, providing your ideal choice of dish but if you know you’d like to book in wth us, its best to do so as soon as you can to avoid missing out…Thanks!

The weekly menu from your hilltop hotspot…

While the weather is dry we are persevering wth the outdoor seating, although we can offer both, please request your preferred option and we’ll do our best to accommodate. An extra layer may be required for the hilltop seabreeze!

Indoor seating is generously spaced and a one way system is in place, although if you feel happier dining in your own surroundings, we are happy to pack up your meal for a take away….

The Beacon “Cup-a-Soup” (well it is soup season after all), this week its Garden Pea which will be served with melty cheese toasts made with our own made sourdough and a tasty mature English cheddar. Vegan option available.

Local roast lamb; a medley of succulent loin & leg with slow cooked shoulder, onion sauce & honey glazed parsnips

Homity Pie – Deep filled with leeks, spinach, mature cheddar and potato with a wholemeal crust (v)

Vegan Nut roast; the Beacon’s renowned mix of nuts with fresh herbs and vegetables, topped with a quenelle of squash puree (gf)

Sale! In the Pottery!

This weekend, book your spot to come and see the works available on sale by local potter, Judith Rowe. Having had her pottery here at The Beacon for 17 years this will be the last before she moves on to new pastures. Saturday has already sold out but further slots have been added for Sunday 11th between 12-5.

Al Fresco Theatre!

The final evening in the series brought to us by the great Fetch Theatre, come and see Toby Belch Is Unwell; One actor reflects on a life in theatre, always, playing the secondary roles. He could have played any of the great Shakespearean characters, he could! He could have been… Hamlet.
The loveable rogue Toby Belch merges with he actor to create s seamless creation, full of bitter anger, humour and pathos.  

Bar & kitchen from 6, serving up veg chilli (packed with lightly spiced veg, beans & lentils, served with rice, sour cream & cheddar, vegan without cheese & sour cream), show starts at 8.

Al Fresco Dining & Theatre This Friday!

Get your tickets now, limited spaces available, for this Fridays outdoor theatre performance; Patrick Kealey gives us Fiction Romance – Antonio’s story from Twelfth Night reworked into a tale of tempestuous unrequited love.

Bar & kitchen open from 6 serving up a vegetarian (vegan on request) platter of local, free range egg Omelette, slow roasted vegetables, mixed salad, home made basil pesto and house sourdough, just £10 a head, add a baked Camembert for £5 extra. Your Sunday Service

The bit about the Coronacoaster…

We’ve been doing all we can to remain open, serving weekly lunches, but to also keep our customers and team safe. Taking contact details of all that visit us, spacing out tables, being mainly outdoors, sanitising, one way systems and generally trying to keep on top of the given guidance. This is just a reminder to anyone coming to eat with us to please please cancel your booking if you have any symptoms or if you have had contact with anybody who has been unwell, its up to us as a community now to attempt to stop the spread. Thanks….

Sunday Lunch From The Beacon

Darn this rain! Its good for the garden but not for making plans to eat outdoors – We are doing our best to seat those with table bookings each week with a wet weather plan in place as long as you’re happy to come inside and we are, of course, considerate of space and social distancing. However, lets hope that the weather is better for Sunday and you can therefore enjoy lunch in the garden. That said, we highly recommend booking in early to save disappointment as space is limited…
