Whilst we emerge from hibernation, we’ll be sending you more and more news of our calendar for the year ahead; expect more Sundays (especially those more meaningful dates like Easter etc), the beginning of our al fresco Fridays, exhibitions, Tea Time Talks, cutting and sewing workshops and much more.

We have exciting news of a new workshop beginning soon here at The Beacon, lead by lady of the house, Judy.

The Antithesis of Throw Away Fashion

In a recent conversation, Judy says “I love clothes; the act of taking a piece of fabric – something that is essentially flat – and rearranging it into a 3 dimensional, moving, tactile, wearable entity.

I have a history of fashion design from way back which includes an MA in Men’s Wear at the RCA, teaching part-time at St Martins (2nd yr BA), being a partner in Swanky Modes and then starting ‘Clothesline’ at the Beacon.

I am now restarting my own pattern cutting and sewing sessions in the big room at the Beacon, on Wednesdays beginning March 11th. 

These are mainly for adults who wish to personalize their wardrobes from perhaps designing from scratch or copying a favourite garment, or maybe altering a charity shop find to their size.”

Starting on March 11th, sessions will run every Wednesday 9.30-12.30 and/or 2-5pm

£30 per session, £50 for whole day, booked on a monthly basis.

Sunday Roast 12.30-4ish Weekly

This week, local lamb roasted in the wood fired oven and minted redcurrant or veggie/vegan Nut Roast. All served with the classic trimmings.

Please let us know in advance should you wish to order the hot smoked Salmon (by Friday please) which is served with wilted chard, roasties, green beans and Tartar.

This weeks pud is a Banoffee Pie, plus we offer a cheese board each week too. Let us know if you’re vegan, you will not miss out.

Known for her instinctive ability to connect with people, she brings a sense of ease and authenticity to her portraits, often capturing fleeting moments of contemporary youth culture with striking honesty. Alongside her photography, Natalya is also an accomplished songwriter and filmmaker, making her a distinctive voice within Hastings’ vibrant art scene.
