Autumns Finest

We have been out in the local orchard this week, picking pears! They will be used for this Sundays crumble spiced with warming ginger. We also have rhubarb from our Dave’s garden, just round the corner.

As we travel further into winter, Tommy will be taking over the kitchen and providing us with a weekly menu of pure delight.

We will publish whats coming up soon, but here’s this weeks menu for you to see (and hopefully eat)…

Fritto Misto – A selection of locally sourced seafood, fried til its crispy and served with a spicy mayonnaise.

Seafood Burger – handmade patty of locally sourced seafood. Served in a bun with lettuce, radish and mayonnaise.

Celeriac Steak – served in a bun with lettuce, pickled sea veg and vegan mayonnaise.

Both burgers come with sweet potato fries and a spicy slaw.

This Sunday sees a local roast lamb with home made mint sauce or Nut Wellington with celeriac puree (Ve). Both are served with roast potatoes, glazed carrots, seasonal greens and our slowly stewed gravies.

This weekend with us…

Come dine with us this Thursday as we try something different from the kitchen. This weeks menu is a celebration of spice and offers a tempting choice of Tandoori fish or squash, homemade Dal, onion bhajis and naan bread cooked in the wood fire oven.

As the autumn sets in, we’re looking forward to hunkering down with a log fire, a fine glass of wine and time with friends. Come join us!

A Night With The Local Lads

This Thursday from 7pm we have a night of original acoustic music from local singer-songwriters Tim Hoyte, John Hodgson and Danny Goring.

Tim Hoyte is a local singer song-writer who lives but five minutes from The Beacon. His Alt folk songs explore the wonder of childhood, dream journeys and the places where myths meet the mundane everyday world. A few of his musical influences include Nick Drake, Syd Barret, Incredible String Band, The Smiths, Bjork, and Gypsy and east-european folk music.

John Hodgson will be playing his own beautiful and melodic songs with his daughter Daisy playing bass including Tim and Dan playing on a few tracks.
Danny Goring is a singer-songriter drawing on Folk and Roots traditions to create songs with personal and universal themes. Danny cites Dylan, William Blake, Bob Marley, Billy Bragg, and The Copper family amongst his many influences.
