We open our doors next week, kicking off the year 2018, with a Thursday evening from chef and local whizzkid Tommy. See his new menu HERE

The following Thursday is Burns Night so stay tuned for plans on that, we’re working on it!

Following next Thursday, will of course be a Sunday. As of the 21st, we will be open weekly for our locally sourced, home cooked Sunday roast. See the up and coming menu HERE and for bookings please call us on 01424 431 305.

If you missed the Clothesline sale the weekend before last then there’s still time to pop in and see their latest lines! Tuesday-Thursday this week only.

Come and see us this Thursday (7-11) for our last open evening before the New Year.

Tommy will be serving up home made pies: a choice of local chicken & tarragon or winter vegetable (Ve) both with champ & greens. There’s a seasonal dessert of mulled wine pears with vanilla cream too. Fully stocked bar, log fire and plenty of festive cheer to see you in to the holiday…

Thursday 14th – Quiz Night

Our Quiz Night is now fully booked but if you were planning to come to eat or drink this Thursday, please let us know and we can try to seat you in the bar area. A menu of home made pies are on the menu this week: a choice of locally caught fish, chicken & tarragon or lentil shepherds pie. We’ll also have mulled wine on the go!

 

Sunday Lunch 12-4 – The last one of this year

Local roast pork with home made apple sauce or our favourite nut roast on a bed of squash puree, both served with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Pudding is a Boozy Brownie Trifle to see you on your merry way.

Visit Clothesline for their Christmas Shop and see brand new Autumn/Winter lines – Jeans, dresses, linen jackets, duster coats and plenty more. All hand made and rather exclusive.
Joining Clothesline will be local makers Elaine Partington, Rebecca Marsters & Co with their fine jewellery available to buy, treat yourself or perhaps a loved one to a really special gift.

This week a spice infused creation – Come and have onion bhaji with cumin coriander yoghurt, fish curry or spiced fire roasted courgette and celeriac both with herby cauliflower rice biryani and pickled coriander cucumber. Sounds great right? Bar open as usual so come up and see us!

Sunday Lunch 12-4

Local roast lamb with onion sauce or a Nut Wellington on a bed of celeriac puree. Both come with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Followed by a Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla ice cream.

A menu with a French twist this week. Expect to find French onion soup with a cheesy crouton, French bean and veg stew with whiting or a home made veg sausage with salsa verde and a side of confit garlic. Pudding is a citron posset. Fully stocked bar, log burner warmth and a merry ole time…

Friday 6-10 Energise Sussex Event

The second night held here by Energise Sussex, this time with Nicholas Royle in conversation with Alex Lockwood on Climate Change, the Anthropocene & language.

Tommy is embracing winter with a Nordic style menu this week. Expect Beetroot cured trout with Rye bread & horseradish creme fraiche, fish or celeriac dumplings in a mustard sauce served with a warm potato salad and a dessert of hand made strudel. Time to come in and warm up!

Come dine with us as Tommy serves up a board of delights. This weeks menu is Tagine with herby cous cous, smoked aubergine, locally caught gurnard with chermoulah, spiced freekah stuffed peppers and wood fire oven baked flatbreads.

A pre-release listening party celebrating Muscle Memory – a new record by Tullis Rennie, with Matthew Bourne and Graham South.

The first in aScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 09.30.40 series of intimate evenings celebrating a love of vinyl; weaving together jazz, electronic textures and records that tell stories. Creator of Muscle Memory, Tullis, will be here to host an evening not to be missed.
