Oi Mate. Wanna try some of our homegrown?

RHUBARB, RHUBARB, RHUBARB!

rhubarb

Our garden has finally grown something other than Dandelions and those weeds that smell of cat wee, hooray!

So, we thought to celebrate this (and of course the pure delight that is rhubarb) we would make some rhubarb and vanilla jam

jam

After sampling it this morning on some toasted sourdough, we’re sure you’ll agree that this is really rather special. SO, come and have a go this Sunday.

We’ll also be baking up a rhubarb and custard themed cake AND of course will have our usual brunch menu of Eggs Benedict/Royale/Florentine, the ever popular potato hash and last but not least, scrambled chickpeas.

Call Out For Artists!

Do you know what a Gaucho is?

I had assumed it was an artist from the late 19th century. This is incorrect.

The_Gaucho

A Gaucho is a resident of the South American pampas, or grasslands. They are experts at herding cows, on horseback. Very much like a cowboy. Through the years, the Gauchos have grown to be greatly admired and renowned in legends, folklore and literature, hence, they have now become an important part of their regional cultural tradition.

Want to know more?

Then come to this Fridays talk with Francisco de Francesca who’ll be revealing all on the style, myth, legend and lifestyle of the Gauchos.

Tickets £15, includes a two course supper themed (loosely) around a Gaucho menu such as Locro, Quinoa salad, Chimichurri and Faina. You may well not have heard of any of those things but trust me, they’ll be tasty. Plus, they’ll be swiftly followed with a salted caramel chocolate pot, made using dulce de leche – an Argentinian staple.

Booking essential, so please call us on 01424 431 305 or email info@beaconhastings.com

Moo Man’s Raw Milk – SOLD OUT

Please join us on Friday 6th March for an evening of enlightenment and entertainment.

Beginning with screening an award winning film which tells the story of a local farmer saving his family farm and turning his back on cost cutting dairies and supermarkets, resulting in a “laugh-out-loud roller coaster of a journey”

mooman

Watch trailer here http://www.the-mooman.co.uk/page1/index.html

Moo Man (Steve Hook) himself will hopefully be present to give a talk and answer any questions you may have on this highly topical subject, whilst we feast on two courses of home cooked delights, including tasters of the milk.

We are very keen to support Hook & Son’s farm (currently under threat from housing development) and have recently set our kitchen to work by producing dishes using raw milk, an organic udderly brilliant ingredient. Guys, this milk is not only delicious as it is but is also really good for you in ways that shop bought pasteurised milk just cannot compete.

BEHOLD our home made yoghurt! Full menu to follow soon…
