The Beacon Proudly Presents…

EarsANDeyes02-poster

Saturday 14th March
6.30pm – 10pm

Ears & Eyes present two fantastic illustrators to speak at their first evening event at The Beacon, Hastings.

———-

Mr Bingo (London)
Some say he’s the ‘Master of pens’. Some call him the ‘Justin Bieber of drawing’. Some say he fucks about for a living.
Illustrator and seasoned speaker, Mr Bingo will explain why spreading hate makes the world a better place and his thoughts about the internet and modern life.
His clients include TIME, Camden Town Brewery, Byron Burgers, The New York Times, QI and Jimmy Carr.

Nick White (London)
Skilled ninja, pasrty chef, lecturer and illustrator, Nick White will muse upon his humorous visual musings, explain the various (in)consistant (anti)themes in his work and show at least 3 pictures of cats.
His clients include The Big Issue, The LA Times, The V&A, The New York Times, Nobrow and Anorak Magazine.
———-
Both speakers each have over 10 years experience in illustration and give some of the most inspiring, engaging and funny talks around. If that wasn’t enough, Ears & Eyes will have a Pop Up Diner and bar at the event, catering for both carnivorous and vegetarian human beans in the form of hot diggety dogs, hamburglars and veggieburglars. The bar is cash only so bring some pocket money.
Be Inspired from 6.30pm – 10pm Saturday 14th March at the Beacon, 67-68 St Mary’s Terrace (down the steps opposite number 12), Hastings, TN34 3LS
Tickets £5 adv / £7 on the door
LIMITED TO 60 SEATS

Celebrating 120 years of The Beacon

It has to be worth checking out our up and coming event: a combination of history, food theatre (brought to you by Grub from London) and a chance to explore the house and grounds, guided by the lady of the house herself. And boy does she have some stories to tell….

If you (like me) had no idea what a ‘scribe’ was then I’ll let you know here in my simpler terms – its someone who does that squiggly writing from olden times, which is now back in fashion and actually rather cool…

Come and join us this Friday with our event host Sally Mae who will tell us all about her life as an internationally renowned scribe, before letting you have a go at designing your own. This will swiftly be followed by two courses of home made cookery which you may wash down with your own choice of drink (BYO)…

Booking is essential, see below poster for finer details…

Dig For Victory!

Well ok, so all we dug up were the recipes; but still…

WW2 was a time of rationing, grow-your-own and perhaps a little ketchup from the black market if one could afford it…

Hot from our stove in preparation for Friday the 14th’s Blitz night are Dig for Victory pies, Allotment soup and even carrot croquettes –

These are true recipes of the time and will be served throughout the evening, free of charge but perhaps not free of a stamp in your ration book!
