Sunday Lunch From The Beacon

Darn this rain! Its good for the garden but not for making plans to eat outdoors – We are doing our best to seat those with table bookings each week with a wet weather plan in place as long as you’re happy to come inside and we are, of course, considerate of space and social distancing. However, lets hope that the weather is better for Sunday and you can therefore enjoy lunch in the garden. That said, we highly recommend booking in early to save disappointment as space is limited…

Starter £7.50 (returning for another week due to popularity)

Smoked Harissa houmous with a choice of chorizo, feta or avocado with mixed leaves and house sourdough.

Mains £14

Sunday Roasts

Local roast beef & fresh horseradish or

Nut Roast & red onion marmalade (v) or (ve).

Each served with Yorkshire pudding, roasties, seasonal vegetables & gravy.

Picnic Platters

Local chicken filo pie, smoked potted gammon, cornichons & potato salad or

Spanakopita” (feta & spinach filo pie), Tzatziki, smoked Harissa houmous & Greek salad (v).

Each platter comes with mixed leaves, house sourdough & butter

Please note we no longer have a car park but for those that are less mobile please let us know so that we can make arrangements for you. A turning circle is created each week to enable drop offs too…

The Early Bird Gets The Crows Nest…

We’ve been really enjoying having you come to eat with us again, the Front Yard is now open every Sunday for lunch whether you want a hearty home cooked roast or a more seasonal picnic platter, fresh locally sourced and sometimes even home grown!

New to the Front Yard is the Crows Nest, an intimate and more secluded dining experience with a view. Book early to save disappointment!

To book your table to eat here please get in touch soon as space is limited, we are now open until 6pm so can take later bookings too. A deposit of £25 will be taken on booking and will be deducted from your final bill. Thanks for understanding as we adapt to a new way of running things.

Our menu is available for collection if you fancy taking it away with you and enjoying it at your favourite picnic spot, please remember to pre-order even if its on the day.

A note about parking: Due to essential changes going on here we now have very limited car parking space. For those less mobile, a turning circle and drop off point will be cleared each week but please try to park up on the West Hill if you can. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Welcome to the Front Yard!

We are now open every Sunday for spacious, al fresco dining and with a view. Book your table now for a home cooked Sunday roast, a summery picnic platter and a drink with friends or family…

During our time in lockdown we worked on the land here, the aim being to become more self sufficient and we are now able to use various homegrown produce in what we serve. Also, keep your eyes peeled for freshly made products for sale each week. This week we have cherry jam (so these cherries are picked by us but in Northiam) and homegrown basil pesto…

So, to this weeks menu…

Starter £7.50

Slow roast tomatoes, whipped Feta (can be vegan) or local chicken liver pate with gherkins. Each comes with mixed leaves and house sourdough.

Mains £14

Sunday Roast

Local roast pork, herby stuffing, fresh apple sauce or Nut Roast (vegetarian and vegan options). Each served with roasties, seasonal vegetables and gravy.

Picnic Platters

Smoked fish, samphire, beetroot & apple relish, horseradish mayo or mature cheddar & onion tart, garlic & fresh herb cream cheese, chutney, pickled onion. Each comes with potato salad, mixed leaves & house sourdough.

Booking is essential and tables are limited so please get in touch as soon as you know when you’d like to visit. Alternatively we are still offering home delivery using Hastings Cargo, delivery fee is £3 and the time slot available is now between 2-4. You can also come and collect from us with a pre-order.
