Pizza, Ploughmans, Pastry & Puddings!

Thanks to everyone that came to see us last weekend, it was so nice to see more of you. We have loved being outdoors using the Garden Kitchen and will be open again this weekend for more of the same!

Friday 6-10ish

Hand made pizzas (we will always offer a meat, vegetarian and vegan option) from Dora & Syd, plenty from the bar and alfresco dining should the weather permit!

*no need to book unless your party is particularly large but we do recommend calling ahead if you plan to come later…

Saturday 12-8 (lunch service 1-4)

Ploughmans Platters of smoked British gammon, mature cheddar cheese or sundried tomato Houmous each accompanied with freshly baked breads, house pickles and salads. Plus freshly baked cakes & bar.

Sunday 12-6 (lunch service 1-3)

  • slow roast local pork, roast smashed potatoes & summer bean salad
  • Rock-a-nore smoked fish platter
  • Cheese & onion tart, house pickles, summer slaw, potato & mixed salad, freshly baked bread (v)
  • sweet potato falafel, sundried tomato Houmous, salad selection, freshly baked bread (ve)

Desserts

  • ice cream cake, hot chocolate sauce
  • vegan sticky toffee pudding

Kids menu available each week too.

FRIDAY…

Friday night sees the official opening of our Garden Kitchen! Come from 6pm, no need to book (unless your party is larger than 8) and grab one of Hannah’s cocktails. She has been working towards a paired drink to suit this weeks Mexican inspired menu…

  • Local pulled pork, pink pickled onions
  • Mexican spiced roast vegetable & mixed bean chilli (V) or (ve)

Each dish comes with grilled corn salsa, summer slaw, chipotle sauce & wood fired garlic flatbreads.

£15 per head.

Saturday….

Our back garden is busy with a private hire but there’s plenty of other places to sit indoors or within the front yard, bar opens at 12 for coffee and cake, light lunches between 1-3 of Ploughman’s style grazing boards £10; home baked ham, English cheddar or a vegan dip, each with pickles, fresh salad and home baked breads.

Sunday…

Bar open from 12 – 6, lunches between 1-3 with our new summer menu…

  • Wood fired local leg of lamb, salsa verde £20
  • Rock-a-nore smoked fish platter, caper mayonnaise £18
  • Roast Mediterranean vegetables, home made Basil pesto (vegan option available) £16

The Last Roast! (for the summer)

This Sunday sees the end of our roast menu – We’ll be sending off the classic plate with local topside of beef and our best recipe nut roast!

From the beginning of July, The Beacon will be opening all weekend (Friday evenings, Saturday & Sunday daytime to 8 & 6pm ish) so we hope you’ll come along to have a drink in the garden, sample the new summer food & drinks menu, tuck in to a slice of cake and enjoy the gardens in their blooming glory!

Our outdoor kitchen will be running throughout the weekends too, dishing up wood fired meats, vegetarian and vegan dishes, hand made breads and various salads.

A more detailed menu will be published each week whilst we work with local suppliers and produce.

We look forward to seeing more of you soon!

A Salute To The Dads…

Its Fathers Days this Sunday and we have just a few tables left for our weekly lunch service so please do book in soon if you were hoping to visit.

NEWSFLASH!

As we travel further into the summer, The Beacon will be open Friday-Sunday every week (starting in July) for you to come and enjoy the dining room, bar and gardens. Come and see us for cocktails, cakes, local liquor drinks list and a new summer menu, bringing lighter options to share with your favourites. Watch out for grazing boards of local meats & fish, fresh salads, hand made wood fired breads and a varied selection of vegetarian and vegan delights.

June 20th – Local Lamb with minted redcurrant (£20) or Homity Pie; leeks, spinach, mature cheddar and potato deep filled in a wholemeal crust (£16) (v). Vegan option available.

June 27th – Local topside of beef with fresh horseradish (£18) or Beacons Best Nut Roast (£16) (vegetarian or vegan options)

As always, each main comes with roasties, a selection of seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and a home brewed gravy.

A Summer Twist…

We embrace the summer with open arms! It has been a long time coming, lets hope it remains this way for some time…

To celebrate the warmer weather we are adding a little continental twist to the weeks Roasts by adding garlic sauteed green beans in place of cabbage and carrots. We are also working towards a summer menu of picnic boards and Ploughmans so do come and enjoy some time with us here soon…

  • Local roast beef, fresh Horseradish £18
  • Beacons Best Nut Roast; mixed nuts, fresh vegetables, plenty of herbs and a sprinkling of cheese (vegan and vegetarian options available)

Each main dish comes with roasties, Yorkshire pudding, sauteed green beans & a home brewed gravy. Or make it a truly summer plate by adding a side of crisp green salad and a fresh Aioli!

The Beacon Garden Kitchen!

We will soon be opening our new outdoor kitchen, dishing out hand made stone baked breads, wood fire roasted local meat, vegetarian & vegan dishes..

Throughout the summer months, The Beacon will be open all weekend with a diary of different cooks, mixologists and happenings. More to be announced soon!

Until then, we are still open every Sunday for our home cooked roast lunches…

SO, as restrictions start to lift, we’re opening our doors once again. Lets hope they can stay open!

We have recently discovered the price of local lamb has gone sky high and so to still enable us to serve this now very special cut of meat we will have very limited servings at a price to reflect its superbness.
